MORNING WALKS & OVER THE RIVER & THROUGH THE WOODS TO LUXEMBOURG

Our morning walks were full of beauty this week: misty meadows, gorgeous sunrises, and a harvest moon.

We had a busy week in the office. We had seven projects approved this week which means approval letters, legal documents to send to the organizations to sign, vendor set ups, and payment requests. We also prepared training materials for new infield and area couples who will be arriving soon. Highlights included calls with our infield couples in Cyprus and Bulgaria and training Elder and Sister Sutterfield online. They will join us in the area office in a few weeks. We continue to be inspired by these couples who serve so diligently.

On Friday afternoon we drove three hours to Luxembourg. We saw beautiful fall colors in sunshine and in fog.

We stayed at a lovely B&B in Bourscheid complete with a river and castle ruins on the hill. It is so fascinating to cross the border into a different country and enjoy a totally different culture, language, and cuisine.

On Saturday morning we toured Vianden Castle which was built between the 11th and 14th century on Roman foundations. It is one of the largest and most beautiful feudal residences of the Romanesque and gothic periods in Europe. Until the beginning of the 15th century it was the seat of the influential counts of Vianden who could boast their close connections to the Royal Family of France and the German imperial court. Restoration to its former glory began in 1977.
