FASCHINGS AND FRUHLING

Our week in the office was brightened when Peter Huber dropped by to say hello. He has been called as the District President in Türkiye and was in Frankfurt on some business. Elder and Sister Huber are the couple who served as missionaries supporting Türkiye before we arrived.

Elder Lamb made delicious gumbo and king cake to celebrate Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday. We have continued that tradition ever since we lived in Louisiana in 1990. Fasching is a traditional German celebration, also known as Karneval or Fastnacht. There were parades all over Germany. Children attended in costumes like what we would see at Halloween.

Spring or Fruhling is on the way! It seemed like a good time to purchase bikes. The Nelsons dropped us off at the bike store, drove home to get their bikes and then rode to the bike store to show us the way home. There are wonderful trails through farmland and wooded areas close to our apartment. We rode our bikes to work on Friday. It took about 20 minutes.

We have felt such renewal as we have driven to and from work in the sunlight and have seen flowering plants for sale at markets. Spring brings a renewal of light and life-reminding us, through the cycle of seasons, of the life, sacrifice, a Resurrection of Jesus Christ, for “all things bear record of Him.” (Moses 6:63) Happy Fruhling!

With love, Elder & Sister Lamb (aka Ed & Debbie, Mom & Dad, Pop Pop & Tu Tu)
