CHAUFFEURING SHAWCROFTS

Élder and Hermana Shawcroft have been serving in Buenos Aries for the past six months. Élder Shawcroft serves as legal counsel and Hermana has been placing the orders for Bishops Storehouses in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay as well as helping with humanitarian projects in the Buenos Aries area. They have moved into the Lindquists apartment upstairs and it is still under debate as to whether they will come to Chile permanently or go back and forth between Chile and Argentina.

Between Zoom training calls with our replacements in Utah and hours of office work trying to organize everything for a smooth transition, we took Hermana Shawcroft to visit some of the Bishops Storehouses in Chile.

While we were in Vina Del Mar, we enjoyed lunch on the beach.

STREET ART IN CHILE’S “JEWEL OF THE PACIFIC”

Right next to Viña is Valparaiso. Before the Panama Canal was built, Valparaiso was a major port of call for commercial freighters. Now it is home to Chile’s legislative Congress and headquarters of the Chilean Navy. It is known for its colorful clifftop houses. We explored one of its 44 hills.

CELEBRATION

Benjamin Ramirez obtained his visa this week, so we went out to dinner to celebrate. He will be traveling home with us and will stay with us for a couple of weeks until he can move into the dorms at BYU where he has a full ride scholarship. He has become our adopted Chilean grandson. Throughout our mission, Élder Lamb has had a standing weekly date with him to practice English and he is very excited for this next step in his life

SUPPERS & SUNSETS

Saturday almuerzo with Bruland’s and Shawcroft’s.

We found a mini La Vega on our rainy walk home. This wonderful fruit and vegetable stand is so close to our apartment. Too bad we didn’t discover it a year ago!

Sunday almuerzo with the wonderful young missionaries in our ward: Hermana’s Dermisache (Argentina) & Wetzel (Utah), Elders Ribeiro (Venezuela) & Higbee (Utah), and Benjamin Rameriz.

Autumn sunset view from our apartment
